Eagle Rock: Morgan's House
Morgan's house has the most amazing backyard with old growth trees including a giant mulberry; there is dappled shade, a swing, raised garden beds in the back, and a flagstone patio for playing and drawing on. Plus a side yard where a lovely old land tortoise lives in her sheltered burrow. Sprinklers, water tables, arts and crafts, & performances. The space goes as far as a child's imagination.
Los Angeles: Elizabeth's House
(Currently not in session - Elizabeth's moving!)
Elizabeth's condo-style apartment in the Carthay district of Los Angeles (near Miracle Mile and West Hollywood) has a versatile indoor-outdoor space. The homey living room opens into a playroom and snack area, with tons of "secret" toy storage, puzzles, games, crafts, and an ocean themed play table that awaits a pet goldfish coming later in the summer. Elizabeth loves, arts, dance, imaginary play and performances, so her space offers lots in the way of costumes, props, stories, and music toys.
There is a small walk-through kitchen (with all dangerous objects packed well out of reach), leading to a perfectly child sized bathroom, and the hallway out to the back patio. Watch for the cats! The white siamese will take any opportunity to explore the outdoors. Fortunately, she's not the runaway type and is very patient with small humans.
There are two outdoor spaces: a front courtyard that's shared with two neighbor's kids; it includes a swing-trapeze-rope ladder gym and room for sports and tricycles. The private back patio is fitted with a pirate ship playhouse and beach theme, including sand and water play, a doll-sized ferris wheel, and small succulent garden that can be an alien landscape for toys to explore.
